Campaign running from October 22 to November 30 to promote soil health, balanced fertiliser use and sustainable farming practices across 34 States and Union Territories, covering more than 700 districts and 50,000 villages.
New Delhi : The Khet Bachaao Abhiyaan (KBA)–Rabi 2026 is being implemented as a nationwide campaign from October 22 to November 30, 2026, with a focus on improving soil health, encouraging balanced fertiliser application and promoting sustainable agricultural practices among farmers.
The campaign aims to reach approximately 50 lakh farmers across 34 States and Union Territories, covering more than 700 districts and 50,000 villages. Through widespread field-level outreach and farmer engagement, the initiative seeks to create greater awareness about scientific farming practices and the importance of maintaining soil fertility for long-term agricultural productivity.
A major focus of the campaign is balanced nutrient management, encouraging farmers to use fertilisers judiciously and adopt soil-health-based approaches rather than relying excessively on specific nutrients. The initiative also places emphasis on natural farming, crop residue management, crop diversification and climate-resilient agriculture.
These priorities are intended to promote more efficient use of agricultural resources, reduce pressure on soil and the environment, and help farmers adopt practices that can sustain productivity while addressing changing climatic conditions.
For effective implementation, the campaign envisages the deployment of 4,150 teams, involving Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) and the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) network. These teams will be supported by more than 12,000 scientists and ATMA functionaries, who will facilitate awareness activities, provide technical guidance and engage directly with farming communities.
The involvement of agricultural scientists and field-level functionaries is expected to strengthen the connection between agricultural research and practical farming, enabling farmers to access scientific information and adopt suitable technologies and practices.
Through its extensive nationwide reach and focus on sustainable agricultural methods, Khet Bachaao Abhiyaan–Rabi 2026 seeks to encourage responsible soil and nutrient management, strengthen climate resilience and support the long-term sustainability of India’s agricultural sector.
